尝试加勒比海游轮“海洋绿洲号”

 

 

 

不久前，我与儿子一家去加勒比海坐了一次邮轮。邮轮的名字是“海洋绿洲号”，是世界第三大邮轮。该邮轮上提供的设施和服务比我过去乘坐的任何一部邮轮都要好。

I recently took a Caribbean cruise with my son's family in the third largest cruise ship in the world – the Oasis of the Seas. The amenities available on board the vessel makes this one voyage stood out from all of many other cruises that I have taken over the years.

I have always enjoyed cruises with my wife since they are very relaxing and we don't have to worry about moving the luggage around and checking into hotels every night. The Oasis of the Seas is like a small city, complete with a Promenade that stays open pass midnight. There is a park complete with green shrubs, trees, and flowers with access to the open sky. A handcrafted Carousel and playground are available to make all the kids happy. Finally, the many entertainment venues including a theatre, skating rink, and an aqua theatre. Of course, the regular features such as pools, spas, mini-golf course, restaurants, and casino can also be found.

 

“海洋绿洲”号（Oasis）属于皇家加勒比海国际邮轮公司，2007年建造，2009年下水。 和2010年12月首航的她的姊妹邮轮“海洋魅力号”以及2016年5月“海洋和悦号”是目前世界上最大的三艘邮轮。“海洋绿洲”长1186.5英尺，总吨数225,282。可容纳6000多名游客。我们这趟旅行，船上有6,400名乘客。

 

Oasis of the Seas was commissioned by the Royal Caribbean International in 2007 and sailed in 2009. The first of her class, she was joined by sister ships Allure of the Seas in December 2010 and Harmony of the Seas in May 2016. Oasis is 1186.5 feet long with a gross tonnage of 225,282. She carries over 6,000 passengers regularly and during our cruise over 6,400 passengers were on board the ship.

Finding our way around the ship can be a challenge for many. We were happy that adequate maps and displays were available to guide us back into our cabin from anywhere within the ship. The many elevators were fast but I failed to understand the logic used in their routing. I was constantly making the wrong guesses as to which of the elevators will open its doors for us based on their floor level indicators displayed. We bought a wi-fi package onboard and found its speed to be phenomenal and indispensable for locating our group members throughout the large ship.

 

传统的大型邮轮一般都有12层。但是海洋绿洲号却设计了16层。如果去船的高层，你会感到船的摇晃程度高于其他小型的游轮。行程一开始，我们现在公海航行了三天后，抵达了第一个停靠港圣马丁菲利普斯堡。海上生活非常放松。白天，我们去“中央公园”坐坐，在露天咖啡馆里享用“免费”的（价格包括邮轮费用）水果和冰淇淋。我们徜徉在微风扑面的绿荫树下。

A typical cruise ship of this size will have about 12 levels. The Oasis is designed with 16 passenger decks. At the top levels, rocking of the boat is felt more significantly than those of the other vessels. We sailed 3 days in the open seas to arrive at our first port of call – Philipsburg, Saint Maarten. Life at sea can be very relaxing. During the day time, we went to the “Central Park” area and sat in open cafes with our “free” (prices included in the cruise fees) fruit cups and ice creams. The trees and shrubs are swaying in the breezes while we stayed under their shadows.

We also spent time in the Promenade area, shopping and watching parades when they were scheduled. Taking the grandchildren to ride on the carousel became a routine, to allow them to release their excessive energies. There are many other attractions located in that open air venue,. The rock climbing wall is a favorite place for many older children and teenagers as well.

 

如果想在船上看表演，最好提前预订,因为剧场的座位无法容纳船上所有的乘客。我们看了一场滑冰表演，一场著名的音乐剧“猫”、是由一些非常有声望的专业艺术家演唱和表演的，还有其他的舞台演出。船上还有世界级潜水员做的精彩水底表演。

For entertainment, it is best to book them ahead of time as seating can be very limited given the number of guests on board. We saw a skating show, a theatre performance of the famous show “the cats”, a singing performance by some very vocally talented professional artists, and another theatre variety show. The aquatic performance was done by very professional world-class divers.

 

晚上，船上的长廊异常热闹。许多人去酒吧和咖啡馆唱歌和跳舞。我们午夜后去逛长廊吃比萨饼和咖啡，在“街道”上闲逛，尽情感受那种气氛。为了消化自助餐和高级餐厅所享受的食物，我们不得不早起加大运动量在船上步行或慢跑。我们要沿着挂着救生艇旁边的椭圆形跑道走2.4圈就是一英里。我们一般走4到6个来回，看着自己所走过的距离，自己非常欣慰消耗了这么多能量，所以走过冰淇淋吧再拿一个冰激凌也没有内疚感。

At night, the Promenade came to life. People were visiting one of the many bars and cafes where singing and dancing took place. We went down for midnight pizzas and coffee and loitered the “street”, taking in all the ambiences it has to offer. To make up for all the food we indulged at the buffets and fine dining restaurants, we paid our penance by walking or jogging on the ship's track in the mornings. We walked a mile every 2.4 times around the oval track next to the hanging life boats. Four to six times we walked while reading the encouraging signs above the deck, telling us that we will be guilt free when we take on the next ice cream.

 

 

旅行结束时，我们对下船和提取行李的速度感到惊叹。清关快而简单，离开码头所用的时间快得出奇。这次乘坐了世界上最大的邮轮之一，让我们旅游享受进入一个新的水准。我期待将来再次登上同样规模、同样级别的邮轮。

We were marveled at the efficiency of luggage handling upon arrival and departure from the ship. We clear customs very quickly and got out of the pier in record time. This adventure with one of the largest ships brings us to a new level of enjoyment not previously experience. I am looking forward to more of the same with larger ships in the same class in future.
